When the Temperature Drops, Ice-Skating is a Fun Outdoor Pursuit for kids of all ages.

What winter would be complete without a trip to the local ice skating rink (followed by a hot cup of cocoa)? Both Lewisburg (outdoor rink) and Sunbury (indoor rink) have places to lace up the skates to twirl and spin or play a rip-roaring game of ice hockey.

The James R. Eister Youth & Community Center in Sunbury is the main entrance for the public ice skating rink and is open daily October through March. The ice rink is fully enclosed and is the "home ice" for the Bucknell University, Bloomsburg University and Susquehanna University Ice Hockey teams, as well as many youth and adult ice hockey teams, including "Susquehanna Valley Stampede". Visit www.sunburypa.org for rink times for open skating plus information about ice hockey and figure skating lessons.*

R. B. Winter State Park

In the heart of winter when the temperatures have been consistently below freezing, Halfway Lake at R. B. Winter State Park freezes enough to allow ice skating.

Be sure to check the winter conditions before going out onto the ice.
To view conditions and receive information on winter activities throughout the Pennsylvania State Parks, go to State Parks Winter Report

COVID-19 Note

* Please be sure to call or visit the website or social media of local rinks to insure the rink is open to the public.
