The Susquehanna River Valley is a vibrant destination for year-round events and activities. Central PA is well known for its local and county fairs, thanks to its rich agricultural heritage, but it’s also home to craft shows, art festivals, and seasonal celebrations for Christmas, Halloween, and other holidays. There’s always something happening in the area—here are some seasonal highlights.
Spring Festivals & Events
Spring is a great time to celebrate arts and crafts. The Lewisburg Arts Festival in April brings more than 100 artists to downtown, with food, drinks, and live entertainment. In May, the Central Pennsylvania Fiber Festival offers hands-on demonstrations, vibrant displays, and vendors specializing in spinning, weaving, knitting, and dyeing fibers.
Summer Events & Fairs
Summer starts the fair season, celebrating with live animals, produce displays, tractor pulls, rides, games, and live shows. The season begins with the Lycoming County Fair in July. You can even camp out in a tent or RV at the Centre County Grange Fair, the only remaining tenting fair in the nation. Don’t miss the Northumberland County Fair in August—another local favorite.

Join the festivities at the Union County Veterans’ 4th of July Celebration in Lewisburg, featuring parades, concerts, and fireworks.
Fall Festivals & Harvest Celebrations
Fall extends the fair season into September with the Bloomsburg Fair, which brings hundreds of thousands of visitors for world-class concerts, thrilling rides, carnival games, animals, agricultural displays, and plenty of food. For a quieter setting, the Beaver Community Fair offers a classic fair experience with a smaller crowd.
This season also brings beloved harvest festivals. In Milton, the community gathers for concerts, contests, food, and vendors. Visit Shade Mountain Winery & Vineyards in Middleburg for their Annual Fall Festival, featuring a pig roast, live music, and plenty of wine. For more festive sips, head to Mifflinburg’s Oktoberfest.
Winter Festivals & Holiday Events
Get in the Christmas spirit as you roam the streets of Mifflinsburg during its Christkindl Market, which celebrates the city’s German heritage. In February, Lewisburg’s Ice Festival features live ice carvings, beverage tastings from local wineries and breweries, and the chance to take part in a polar bear plunge.
