Whether you prefer to retreat into nature or quietly explore your surroundings, we have outdoor activities and events for all ages.

Isle of Que Fishing

Every May, Shikellamy State Park inflates the Adam T. Bower Dam to create Lake Augusta, a haven for boating, water skiing and bass fishing until the season ends in October. If you’d like to spend a day on one of our lovely lakes, kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals are available at several locations. There’s even a kayak shuttle service so you can float down the Susquehanna River without worrying about how to return to your destination.

Anyone interested in learning more about our waterways can join the Floating Classroom Series on the Hiawatha!, run by the Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and held on a paddlewheel riverboat, or join the Nature’s Explorer Program, which teaches children ages 4-10 and their families about the world around them.

Visitors and locals can also enjoy corn mazes and fall festivals every autumn, followed by holiday light displays and outdoor Christmas events.

Beyond these programs and seasonal activities, the region also hosts several returning favorites each year, including unPAved of the Susquehanna River Valley, the Milton Harvest Festival, and the Mifflinburg Christkindl Market - each celebrating community, nature and local tradition.
