MILTON, PA – The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau (SRVVB), which promotes tourism in Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties, recently honored two local organizations for their commitment and dedication to the region’s tourism industry.

The SRVVB and its partner businesses honored Lewisburg Children’s Museum with the Dan Baylor Award and Faylor Lake DiscGolf Park with the Herb Bendt Award. The awards were presented during the SRVVB Annual Membership Luncheon at the Pine Barn Inn on Friday, May 16th

Lewisburg Children’s Museum Celebrated
The Dan Baylor Award is given annually to an individual or organization demonstrating exemplary entrepreneurial spirit in promoting local tourism. The award honors the entrepreneurial spirit of Dan Baylor, one of the founders of tourism promotion in the Susquehanna River Valley. The 2025 award recipient is Lewisburg Children’s Museum.

The Lewisburg Children’s Museum is located in the former Lewisburg High School at 815 Market Street. When the move of the high school was announced, two friends, Abby Gulden-Luthi and Erin Jablonski, envisioned the potential of an educational and creative play space in Downtown Lewisburg that would bring together families from all walks of life. This vision quickly became a reality in 2017 as the museum opened to the public. Currently the museum serves over 30,000 visitors annually. They offer a wide variety of events throughout the year, including summer camps for preschool- and elementary-aged children and space rentals. LCM partners with various community organizations to bring fun and educational kids’ activities to local events. The LCM staff works to provide interactive fun and learning to all children regardless of age, ability or financial resources. Some of their proudest moments have been working with children and families who often encounter barriers to play opportunities. The Dan Baylor Award was presented to LCM Director Mary Beth Harris.

Faylor Lake DiscGolf Park Scores Points for SRV Tourism
The Herb Bendt Award recognizes events, businesses or individuals who impact favorably upon the tourism industry in the Susquehanna River Valley and honors the founder of tourism promotion in the river valley, Herb Bendt. Faylor Lake DiscGolf Park in Beaver Springs is the 2025 winner.

Since its establishment in 2021, the Faylor Lake DiscGolf Park has grown in recognition and popularity, earning it the title 14th best course in the world according to UDisc. Disc golf has become a significant recreational activity in the U.S., outpacing traditional golf courses in number and offering a low-cost, family-friendly alternative. As of 2024, the U.S. boasts over 10,000 disc golf courses. The Faylor Lake course offers beautiful vistas and an accessible layout. Though it will challenge the best players in the world, there is a second set of teepads that will accommodate recreational and intermediate-level players. This makes Faylor Lake the perfect family getaway. The course is free to play and open to the public from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. Each year the course welcomes outdoor recreation enthusiasts from around the country to test their skills and explore Snyder County. The Herb Bendt Award was presented to Snyder County Commissioners Adam Ewig and Chuck Steininger.
