Woodward Cave

Woodward Cave and Campground

One of the largest caverns in Pennsylvania, its nickname, "The Big One," reflects its five spacious rooms, one of which, "The Hall of Statutes," is 300 feet long. Experienced guides conduct a well-explained, easily-walked tour in large, well-lit passageways that offer 50 minutes of nature at its best.

The rooms you will visit in Woodward Cave include the Ballroom, actually used for square dances and banquets.  In the Square Room, you will be shown delicate rare Helictites, cave coral, and more.  The Hanging Forest features the largest collection of stalactites found in the cave, along with ribbon formations and flow stone.  Next, in the Hall of Statues, you will be amazed at one of the largest stalagmites in the region, the Tower of Babel, 14 feet high.  The Upper Room completes the tour with a spectacular cathedral ceiling rising 60 feet from the floor below.

Millersburg Ferry

Millersburg Ferry Boat Assoc.

National Registry of Historic Sites. Historic and last known wooden double stern-wheel paddle boats still operational in the USA. Enjoy a one-mile ride or two-mile round-trip ride. Call or text 717-692-2442 or visit the Facebook page prior to visiting for hours of operation and updates to schedule.

Nestled in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, just along the Susquehanna River, lies the last known wooden double stern-wheel paddle boats still in operation in the United States: the Millersburg Ferry Boats. With a fleet of two boats, The Roaring Bull V and The Falcon III, the Millersburg Ferry Boats are the only ferries still in service along the whole 464-mile-long Susquehanna River.

Suspected to have started in the 1750’s, the ferry has been in continuous service since 1817 and connects Millersburg in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, with an adjacent landing in Perry County along Routes 11&15, approximately 2 miles south of Liverpool. The landing sites are included in the PA State Historic Marker Program (indicated by the familiar blue and gold signs) and the ferry wall is listed in the National Registry of Historic Sites.
