"Tarrstown Tales" and "The Art of Building Lewisburg"

New Image

Kicking off this year’s “Celebration of the Arts” on Friday, April 23, is the premiere of a Dickens-inspired, family-friendly radio play, "Tarrstown Tales: Kris's Time-Traveling Lewisburg Adventure.”

This original radio drama will be followed by a short nonfiction film, “The Art of Building Lewisburg”, highlighting some of Lewisburg’s historic locations. Both programs were commissioned by the Lewisburg Arts Council from producer - and Lewisburg Area High School alum - Dave Simons for this year’s Celebration of the Arts.

The radio drama features a diverse cast of characters, some of whom are drawn from Lewisburg's past, while the short film will highlight several of Lewisburg’s iconic buildings.

Together, the two programs showcase the work of local writers, actors, and filmographers. The drama and short film will be shared with the public as a YouTube video on this page Facebook: Lewisburg Arts Council beginning on April 23.

"As You Like It"

New Image
Saturday, April 24, 11 am at the Hufnagle Park Gazebo: Scenes from “As You Like It” with Bucknell Theatre, directed by Bryan Vandevender
Love in all of its permutations takes center stage in this new twist on Shakespeare’s beloved comedy. When Rosalind’s usurper uncle overthrows the government and threatens her life, she disguises herself as a boy and flees into the Forest of Arden. Now known as Ganymede, she searches for her mother (the rightful duke) and is accompanied by her cousin and the court fool. The passionate Orlando, who fell in love with Rosalind before her escape, also steals into the forest to evade a vengeful sister.
Hijinks ensue when Ganymede agrees to school Orlando in the art of wooing Rosalind. All the world’s a stage (literally) in this outdoor production that uses downtown Lewisburg as the backdrop for Shakespeare’s story.
