BTE Statement on Coronavirus Concerns

March 12, 2020

Along with many other organizations that host events open to the public, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is monitoring the news about the Coronavirus COVID-19 and we’d like to share some of the steps that BTE is taking to protect our patrons and colleagues against the spread of this disease.
To help ensure that our patrons are comfortable when they attend the theatre, BTE is undertaking various preventative actions recommended by U.S. Centers for Disease Control, including:

  • Providing hand sanitizer throughout the public spaces in our buildings and appropriate soap in our restrooms with instructions for recommended hand washing technique
  • Regular sanitization of all surfaces including armrests, doorknobs, light switches, handrails, restrooms, and other points of common contact
  • Making tissues and wipes available, along with appropriate receptacles for their disposal throughout the common areas of our facilities.

In addition to following CDC recommendations, BTE staff will no longer hand out programs but will ask patrons to take their programs from a basket. BTE will ask patrons to take programs home following performances. BTE will not be recycling programs for later use has has been our practice.

At this time, BTE has no plans to cancel any scheduled event or performance.

However, BTE understands that the Coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. is a rapidly evolving situation. BTE is monitoring developments related to the spread of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania and its service area and has opened communication with those local officials responsible for public health policy decisions. BTE will follow their recommendations and directions as they may be forthcoming.

Any changes in our performance schedule that may be required in future will be promptly announced on our website,, and via our Facebook page (@btensemble) and Instagram feed (bloomsburgtheatreensemble).

For the health safety of all of our patrons and staff, we encourage anyone experiencing cold or flu symptoms to stay home. If you already have tickets for an event and must miss it due to illness, BTE’s box office will be happy to exchange them, at no cost, for a future performance when you are feeling better. Please feel free to contact the Box Office at 570-784-8181 or [email protected] to make the necessary arrangements.

Questions or concerns about BTE's Coronavirus policy may be directed to [email protected].
