The LCM is planning lots of holiday fun to get your family excited for the season of light and merriment! From DIY Turkeys to Gingerbread masterpieces, we have things to keep kids excited this holiday season.

Plus! Save the date for a Family Trivia Night and New Year's Eve at Noon: Bubble Bash celebration! Stay tuned for more details!

Sweet treats and family memories are on their way during the LCM’s Gingerbread Extravaganza. Gather your edible construction supplies and create a one of a kind masterpiece to be displayed at the LCM during the week of Sunday, December 5-Sunday, December 12. Gingerbread structures must be registered and dropped off at the LCM by 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 5. Judging will take place during the display week and winners announced via Facebook Live event on Sunday, December 12 at 4 pm. During the week, guests can vote for their favorite designs at the Museum. Prizes awarded to top three constructions. This is a FUNdraising event. Registration is $10 per entry. Families or groups may submit one entry. Additional contest rules apply.

Friday, Nov. 19⋅9 am Music and Movement is an interactive class, where you and your child will sing, play, dance, and even create your own instrument!  Your child will explore different musical elements and movement in a fun, playful environment. Saturday, Nov. 20⋅10:30 am-12:30 pm Join us for this extra savory program as Jill Thomas (author and family owner of the Tom Sturgis Pretzel Company) teaches us about the pretzel!  Learn about the pretzel making process, examine pretzel salt, and design new pretzel shapes. Recommended for ages 4 and up and free with general admission or museum membership.
Monday, Nov. 29⋅10:00 am No school? No problem! Join us for this STEM building challenge to make gingerbread-style houses. Recommended for ages 5 and up (adults can make too) and registration is required. Times available: 10:30 am-11:00 am; and 11:30 am-12:00 pm. Daily, December 3 – 30 Join us for our annual Celebrations of Light program as we create a winter wonderland of special activities to spread the warmth, cheer, and fun of the holiday season! Hot chocolate themed sensory play, snowman building, an indoor snowball fight and more! Program is included with general admission or museum membership.
Mon., Dec. 27⋅10 am-12 pm Join us for this hands on cupcake decorating workshop, as we learn and practice some tips and tricks of the trade and finish with a creative competition and friendly critique. No prior cake decorating experience is required.   Program made possible by support from Bella's Bliss of Selinsgrove. Thurs., Dec. 30 ⋅10 am-12 pm Join us for this humorous engineering workshop where we will use simple machine parts to design a humor-filled chain reaction- Rube Goldberg machine. Design a machine to catch a mouse, blow up a balloon, pour a glass of water- the possibilities are endless! This workshop is recommended for children 8 and up and masks are required. Weekly on Mondays⋅10:30 – 11:00am Toddler Time is an interactive program for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver. Toddler Time includes a story, sing-a-long, and/or hands-on learning activities. Program is included with general admission or membership.
Weekly on Saturdays⋅10:30am – 12:30pm  Each week we'll explore a different STREAM theme- Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, or Math- where you can participate in an activity, experiment, or craft at the museum. This program is free with general admission or membership and recommended for ages 4 and up.

Saturday, November 13⋅10:30am – 12:30pm

Join us for this STEM Day with the Bucknell University Engineering Student Board as we explore the wonders of the beyond! Engineering students will lead participants through a series of hands-on Earth and space science experiences with connections to STEM created with NASA and the NISE Network. Program is recommended for ages 5 and up. Program is included with general admission or membership.
