Tuesdays at 10am
Join us for another round of StoryTime with a Bison! Virtually read, sing, talk, write, and play together with Bucknell University Education Majors. These live, interactive story times will be available through Zoom on Tuesdays at 10:00 am. Program is free, but registration is required to receive your Zoom link.

¡Hola! Registration is now open for our Virtual Spanish for Kids ages 7-12 to learn the basics of the language through songs, crafts and poems. Our Zoom sessions will cover topics such as the alphabet, numbers, seasons, and the weather. ¡Adios!

Children and parents will have fun learning American Sign Language basics- the manual alphabet and some conversational Sign Language. Children and parents will receive instruction and practice signing with each other and the session leaders. Recommend for children 5 and up and their caregivers. Program sponsored by Service 1st Federal Credit Union.

Join a group of explorers on Saturday afternoons, discovering the curiosities of nature at Dale’s Ridge and areas surrounding Lewisburg. Each session will introduce a new way of seeing and being in the natural world - from art and poetry to birds and bugs! Professors from Bucknell University will give kids a chance to ask questions, test equipment, make art, and be together in safe ways outdoors. We’ll also learn what we can do to keep our environments healthy. What a great way to spend Saturdays in the spring!

Toddler Time is an interactive program for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver. Toddler Time includes a story, sing-a-long, and/or hands-on learning activities. Program is free with general admission or membership. Sign ups will be available day of the program at the front desk on a first come, first serve basis.

Kidz in the Kitchen is back! Grab an apron and join local chefs from our community for this unique culinary experience! Weekly, participants will receive a cooking tutorial and recipe list to make these tasty treats at home. Special thanks to our local restaurant partners for participating!

Join us for ex-STREAM Saturdays. Each week we'll explore a different STREAM theme- Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, or Math- where you can participate in an activity, experiment, or craft at the museum. F.U.N. (Families Understanding Nature)

FUN with Nature Writing
Saturday, April 17

Be a poet for the day! Registration is now open for our Nature Writing program as part of the Lewisburg Children’s Museum’s Families Understanding Nature (FUN ) Weekend Program. Join Bucknell’s Poetry, Mind and Nature students for a spring stroll through Soldier’s Memorial park while making a collaborative poem about what’s happening in the natural world around us. Recommended for children ages 6-10. Register here.

Nature Photography Workshop
Saturday, April 24
⋅10:00 am-11:00 am; 11:30 am-12:30 am; 1:30 pm-2:30 pm; or 3:00 pm-4:00 pm
Join local amateur photographer Bob Haefner in introducing your child to basic nature photography. This fun, interactive session will describe, to the budding shutterbugs, why a photo is made and also demonstrate a couple of tried-and-true composition rules to apply to their nature photography.  Children will have fun photographing, as well as completing a photo scavenger hunt to give them a chance to try what they have learned. 
Recommended for children ages 7-12.   A smartphone or other electronic device is required for participation.  This is a drop off program. Activities will be held outside weather permitting. In event of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors.  Masks are required and COVID precautions will be followed. Register here.

Drop in on Saturdays between the hours of 10:30am - 12:30pm for some hands on ex-STREAM fun! American Sign Language for Families

Children and parents will have fun learning American Sign Language basics, such as the manual alphabet and some conversational Sign Language. Program facilitated by Gabe Gross, leader of the Bucknell University Sign Language Club and sponsored by Service 1st Federal Credit Union. Recommended for children 5 and up and their caregivers. Program held in the LCM Courtyard. Masks are required and COVID precautions will be followed. This program is $5 per child (each child can have up to two caregiver(s)). Spring into Art Workshop

Wednesday, April 28- Friday, April 30 ⋅ 4:00 pm-6:00 pm

Spring into Art with this re-imagined Arts Festival-inspired program! The three-day event (April 28-30 at 4:00 pm-6:00 pm) will introduce young artists to a variety of projects that evoke creative thinking, unique techniques, and fun approaches to the basic principles of art.  Specific themes for each day will include composition, realism/abstraction, and ways to repurpose common art supplies in new and interesting ways. Program sponsored by BZ Motors. Program is recommended for children 9-12 and is $15 to attend.  This is a drop off program. Activities will be held outside weather permitting. In event of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors. Masks are required. Register here.

 

Up from the Jungle

Saturday, May 1⋅9:00 am-10:30 am

Join us for a nature walk on Dale’s Ridge Trail as we search for jungle birds that have made the long trip from Central and South America’s jungles and tropics.  You will hear about the how and why of migration and learn about particular migrating birds, their songs, and behaviors.  Make your own bird call lanyard and put it to the test during the hike! Program held at the Dale Engle Walker property and meeting at Dale Engle Walker house to begin. Recommended for children 6 and up. Participants should dress appropriately for hiking and may bring binoculars for viewing birds. Masks are required and COVID precautions will be followed.  This event is $12 for non-members, $10 for members.  Drop off program. Space is limited  and registration is required. Register here.

 

Museum-at-Home: Virtual Mother’s Day Tea Party

Saturday, May 8⋅11:00 am-11:30 am

Join us for this extra special virtual event celebrating that special lady! Program includes an activity kit for caregiver and child to share and a facilitated program, complete with tea time etiquette led by the Mistress of Ceremonies. Kits include plastic tea cups to decorate, a flowering tea ball, materials to create your own tea party attire, and additional recipes and activities to make it an extra special memory. Orders due by April 24th. Orders available for pick up May 1st - May 7th. Program and activity kit is $15 for a caregiver and one child.
