Paint Me a Story
Saturday’s; 10-11:00 a.m.
This story time-art-studio-mashup is a whole lot of fun for your little ones, ages 2-6. Story time ignites preschoolers’ imaginations for creating hands-on art activities exploring colorful book themes and characters. Build language skills, color recognition, and small motor skills. $2 material fee.

Ready, Set, Grow
Every other Wednesday; 10-10:45 a.m. January 13th-March 31st
Have you ever wondered what your child is learning through their play? Do you ever wonder if you child is ready for Kindergarten? This program will help you learn why play is important and how to understand it. Your child will be invited to play and you will be invited to chat, observe and play alongside your child.

Music Together of Bloomsburg– Drop-In Classes
Friday’s at 10:15 a.m. in January and February
This internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program is led by certified music teacher, Kerry Kenny. Music Together® stimulates a love for music, movement, and learning in children ages newborn to kindergarten and the adults who love them. Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun—it's easy to forget how much learning is taking place!

In order to maintain a safe public space for our guests and comply with our community standards, masks are required for entrance to the Museum.  The Children's Museum has increased sanitation of all touchable surfaces, removed many loose exhibit pieces to reduce touchable surfaces, instituted "Discovery Bags" to still allow hands-on participation for individual learners, and increased air exchange in the Museum.



Science of Snow

Come learn about the Science of Snow with the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum. Learn how it forms and why it snows. Free with regular admission. 

This Day in History: Invention of the Frisbee
Saturday, January 23rd, 10-12:00 p.m.
Join the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum as we explore this day in history. We will be taking a close look at Saturday, January 23rd, 1957. On this day, Wham-O toy company roll out the first batch of their aerodynamic plastic discs—now known as Frisbees. Free with regular admission. 

Celebrate Stinky the Turtles Birthday
Saturday, January 30th, 10-12:00 p.m.
Join the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum as we celebrate Stinky’s birthday. Did you know Stinky is a Common Musk Turtle and native to Pennsylvania? Come learn about Stinky while enjoying a birthday treat. Free with regular admission. 

This Day in History: Doughnut– Making Machine
Saturday, February 6th, 10-12:00 p.m.
We will be taking a close look at Saturday, February 6th, 1926. On this day in Dubuque, Iowa, the first doughnut-making machine was launched. Free with regular admission. 

Celebrate Valentine’s Day
Saturday, February 13th, 10-12:00 p.m.
Create your own Valentine’s Day card for your loved ones with the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum. Free with regular admission.  

National Bird Feeding Month
Saturday, February 20th, 10-12:00 p.m.
Come learn about what birds you can see in your own backyard while creating your own take-home bird feeder. Free with regular admission. 

Polar Bear Day
Saturday, February 27th, 10-12:00 p.m.
Come learn about the world’s largest carnivore, the Polar Bear. Learn where to find and how to identify this bear. Free with regular admission.

Regular Programs at the Bloomsburg Children's Museum

Infectious Intelligence
Monthly on the first Monday 5-7:00 p.m. Through June 2021.
Middle and High School-aged students will design and build tethered robots using engineering design concepts. Open to grades 6 and up. $140.00/student. Pizza dinner included.

Panera Bakers in Training
Monday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. or Monday, February 15th at 2:00 p.m.
During this fun-filled culinary experience, your child will try their hand at bread making by stretching and scoring a mini French baguette. They will also get to decorate their own cookie, with pro tips from Panera’s artisan bakers. $25/child includes chef’s hat and apron, tastings, and baking activities.

Grossology Lab: Owl Pellet Dissection
Saturday, January 9th Session A: 10-11:00 or Session B: 11:30-12:30
This owl pellet dissection lab is a memorable (and fun!) way to learn about the eating habits of birds of  prey– birds such as owls that eat rodents and small birds.

Grossology Lab: Clam Dissection
Saturday, February 20th Session A: 10-11:00 or Session B: 11:30-12:30
You’ll want your kids to clam up when they get so excited about this class! Learn all about the anatomy of the clam during this hands-on program.

Young Engineers
Tuesday’s at 4:30 p.m. Through January 26th
Grab your lab coats and goggles for this after school science class! Students will learn about pneumatics, circuits, hydraulics and more! Check Facebook or our website for the list of projects.

Lego Engineering and Robotics
Tuesday’s at 4:30 p.m. February 2nd to March 30th
Students ages 8-15 will be introduced to STEM concepts while exploring real world scientific problems in this after school LEGO Engineering and Robotics class. Students will create and test using a Lego WeDo robotics kit, that features working motors and sensors, to show their work.

Homeschool Hangouts
Every other Wednesday 11-1p.m. during the school year beginning Through March 31st.Parent/child activities designed to complement concepts taught in homeschool curriculum, grades K-12. Discounted admission for homeschool families.

Art Attack: Learn the Basics
Saturday’s, 11:30-12:30 p.m.
Join Miss. Emily to explore the basics of art. In this one-hour class students will explore fine art techniques. Whether you are a seasoned artist who wants to brush-up on your skills or you are a beginner, this Saturday art workshop is perfect for you! Recommended for ages 6+. $12 per student. All Abilities Night

Come to a fun night out for All Abilities Night! Enjoy a reduced number of visitors, space, and freedom to explore at your own pace, adapted exhibits, a quiet area, and an opportunity to network with other families. All Abilities Night is a FREE event held Quarterly

The Great & Powerful Graphic Organizer: Tools for Parents!
The graphic organizer is so simple - just a few shapes and lines and yet it is an absolutely amazing tool that can cement learning in a short time. Join Jennifer Billig, of Hand in Hand Family Resource Center for this free program to learn about using graphic organizers to make everyday tasks easier for you and your child.
January 5th -Visual Schedules: Make a schedule for your child to follow at home. A morning/evening routine tailored to your situation.
February 2nd - Responsibility Charts: Get your child motivated to participate in daily chores, using visuals or tangible items and reward systems.

March 2nd - Mindfulness and/or Sensory Kit: Sometimes it’s difficult to manage frustrations and situations that are overwhelming, having tangible tools on hand can help children regain control

“It’s OK to Be Different”: Addressing Difference and Diversity with Young Children
Friday, February 5th, 5-6:00 p.m.
This FREE workshop gives parents and guardians of young children an opportunity to discuss ways in which they can help their young children navigate differences and diversity among people. We will focus on using children's literature as a tool to begin these discussions, reflect on our own experiences and attitudes with differences, and learn some tips to help young children positively interact with diversity within our community. Seating is limited. Each family will receive a free book. This workshop is sponsored by The Coalition for Social Equity and the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum.

Special Guest: Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

The Zoo Comes to You

Ethical hackers, information security professionals, and educators will bring the benefits of white hat hacking to the children and young adults at the conference.
