Susquehanna River Road Trips

The North Branch Art Trail continues to develop and fine-tune an exciting new series of self-guided “Road Trips” that encourage you to get out and discover every bit of the North Branch of the Susquehanna River. Split into three convenient sections, these Road Trips will guide you along all 300 miles of the North Branch, from its headwaters in Cooperstown, NY to its conclusion in Sunbury, PA.

  • Spring Road Trip – Exploring the Upper North Branch, from Cooperstown to Binghamton (map & info will be included in the Spring 2022 issue of the North Branch Arts Paper)

  • Summer Road Trip – Exploring the Middle North Branch, from Owego to Tunkhannock (map & info will be included in the Summer 2022 issue of the North Branch Arts Paper)

  • Fall Road Trip – Exploring the Lower North Branch, from Pittston to Sunbury (map & info will be included in the Fall/Holiday 2022 issue of the North Branch Arts Paper)

A program of the Kitson Arts Alliance, the North Branch Art Trail follows the entire 300-mile length of the North Branch of the Susquehanna River - from its headwaters in Cooperstown, NY to its conclusion in Sunbury, PA. The art trail's region includes a total of 18 counties in Upstate New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania. While the primary focus of the organization is local art (visual, performing and culinary), it also promotes local food & beverages, plus nature, history, community, river activities, local events and more.

The Samuel H. Kress Foundation was established in 1929 to make artistic masterpieces accessible to Americans. This fall, the Kress Gallery will be reinterpreted to investigate the notion of “master” and “masterpiece” by understanding power structures in the art world and their effect on the social and cultural perception of artworks.
