The Exchange will be hosting two more live storytelling events this summer The American poet and critic Muriel Rukeyser said “The Universe is made of stories, not of atoms.”

At The Exchange we believe that, by sharing our stores with each other, we help to build a sense of community – and help to define the identity of our region. In association with two of our upcoming Gallery shows, we have scheduled two evenings of music and stories from our friends and neighbors, and we invite YOU to take part, as a storyteller and/or a singer and/or a listener.

Join us at the Exchange Gallery,
24 East Main Street in Bloomsburg

Tuesday, July 19th at 7pm for:
“WILD: Unbelievable Animal Stories”
during the “Creatures and Critters” show

Tuesday, September 20th at 7pm for:
“UFOs: Unfinished, Unexplained, and Extraordinary”
during the “UFOs: UnFinished Objects” show.

You may share through spoken word or song, with no prior experience necessary, but we would like to talk to you ahead of time about what you plan to present (and please, keep it no more than PG-13). For “WILD”, we invite you to tell us about any and all animals, real or imagined; for “UFOs”, we seek stories of unfinished objects, unexplained phenomena, and anything extraordinary.

As we have done at both of our two prior storytelling events (on the themes of disasters and love), we will capture all the stories on video for sharing on our YouTube channel. With limited time slots available for storytellers and musicians, and with limited audience seating available in the Exchange Gallery, please call or e-mail to sign up and/or make a free reservation: 570-317-2596, [email protected]

We began our storytelling series in September of 2021, marking the tenth anniversary of the worst flood in Bloomsburg’s history, with “Catastrophes, Cataclysms & Calamities: Dealing with Disasters” – stories of natural disasters and also intimate disasters between friends. In February of 2022, we celebrated, simply, “Love”. You can find the videos of both evenings by Clicking This Link

“Creatures and Critters” will run at the Exchange Gallery from Monday, July 18th, through Friday, August 26th . We invite all artists of all ages and levels of experience to make work inspired by animals, real and imagined, with their work due at the Gallery no later than Saturday, July 16th .

“UFOs: UnFinished Objects” – unfinished artwork in any medium, 2D or 3D – will run at the Gallery from Monday, August 29th, through Friday, October 7th, with work due Saturday, August 28th – again open to all artists of all ages and levels of experience. Visit for details about both shows.

Visit the Exchange Gallery Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
(hours may vary from week to week;
