Covid-19

Relevant News and Information

VISITCENTRALPA.ORG/COVID-19

The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau is monitoring the national and regional impact of COVID-19 (the coronavirus). We want to be your resource for updated information on the coronavirus and its impact on a local, state and national level and be your resource for up-to-date information on how the virus may impact upcoming events, marketing partner businesses, museums, lodging, attractions, festivals, and the upcoming tourism season.

EVENT INFORMATION

Communication is one of our best tools and we ask your help in keeping the public up-to-date about any event changes, postponements and cancellations. We are actively encouraging visitors finding events through www.VisitCentralPA.org to refer back to member sites for the most current information available. However, realizing that some visitors won’t take this extra precautionary step, please update us immediately if your event is changed, cancelled or postponed. Please call the Visitor Center at 570-524-7234 with this information or email us at [email protected] (and use EVENT UPDATE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE in the subject line). By staying on top of the most current information, we are best serving residents and potential visitors to our region.

Changes to events on our online calendar of events will appear as “Cancelled” [not held], “Updated” [changes to times or dates] or “Postponed” [to be scheduled in the future. Stay tuned].

Be sure to constantly check back to our online calendar of events on VisitCentralPA.org for updated event information.

TOURISM MARKETING

As your tourism marketing agency, we want to ensure all members/marketing partners that our marketing campaigns and promotions are continuing as normal. We are distributing our Annual Guide to the Susquehanna River Valley throughout Pennsylvania, upstate New York, New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington DC and northern Virginia as planned – in addition to mailing guides to potential visitors throughout the year and brochure rack fulfillment throughout the region.

Our overall marketing strategy is agile and allows us to adapt our message based on unfolding events. Our upcoming Backyard Tourism Week, May 4-9, will encourage residents in the region to be good neighbors by becoming backyard tourists by visiting and supporting local, small and family owned businesses, events and attractions.  Similar to the economic downturn of 2008/2009, “staycation” messaging will be prevalent as will marketing to consumers within a 3-4 hour drive of the Susquehanna River Valley.  The Susquehanna River Valley and all its amenities will be promoted as a safe, healthy, affordable, family-friendly and easily accessible destination.

Please be sure to let us know if you plan to offer any coupons, special packaging, promotions or discounts so we can make sure that consumers are aware of all the incentives and opportunities that exist to help them discover and explore the Susquehanna River Valley.

Please contact us at any time to let us know how you are doing and how we can better serve you. Together we can work through this difficult situation and position ourselves for a bright future!

State and National Resources

The Department of Health, along with federal and local public health officials, are closely monitoring the situation and the commonwealth is prepared to respond to the community spread of this virus.

It’s important for everyone to take action to help prevent the spread of the virus. The best thing we all can do at this time is be extra vigilant about precautions normally taken during flu season, and pay close attention to recommendations and guidelines.

As this situation evolves, we encourage you to monitor health.pa.gov, their Facebook page and Twitter account. It’s important to remember that the most accurate and timely information regarding this outbreak in Pennsylvania is available through the Department of Health.

While the U.S. government has not suggested limiting domestic travel or imposed restrictions on international inbound travel beyond those already in place, please be mindful that this could change quickly.
