Plan the Ultimate Guys Night(s) out!

OK guys! Here you are! Get ready for a “Man’s” weekend, complete with lots of action, brew pubs, golf and/or other outdoor activities, and, of course, great food. This is the Ultimate Boys’ Night Out, stretched into an extended weekend. Arrive back home exhausted but exhilarated with stories that last a lifetime. You and your friends will be talking about this trip 10 years from now!

Day One

Your adventure begins the minute you hit the Susquehanna River Valley on a guided kayak trip with Canoe Susquehanna. Get ready to enjoy the broad reaches of this beautiful river, which is the longest on the East Coast. If you happen to stop by the Shikellamy State Park Marina, you’ll be at the confluence of the Susquehanna River, the only place that the North and West Branches of the Susquehanna River meet. Nearby is Lake Augusta, the body of water created by the Adam T. Bower Dam, the longest inflatable dam in the world! When the dam is fully inflated it raises the water level at least eight feet and affords 4 miles of unhindered boating, water skiing, fishing, and good old-fashioned guy stuff.

For dinner we recommend eating at the Bull Run Tap House in Lewisburg, which has the largest craft beer selection in the area along with great food and fun!

From there, it’s a short drive to your accommodations at Penns Creek Mountain Lodge outside of Mifflinburg. The bed and breakfast is a handcrafted log masterpiece, set against 145,000 acres of picturesque Bald Eagle State Forest. Sleep soundly—you have a full day of activity tomorrow!

Day Two

Up and at ‘em, bright and early today! Eighteen holes of golf at Indian Hills Golf Club await! Click here for a Google Earth Tour of the course to check out the layout before you get there. It's one of the area's more challenging courses, but we know you guys are up to it!

When the rounds are all finished, you can celebrate the 19th hole at nearby Masser’s Restaurant, which has been delivering great home cooking for more than 30 years. All bacon, ham and sausage are slow smoked in their own smokehouse and all meats are roasted fresh.

If you want something other than hearty home cooking, we recommend Coney Island Lunch (pictured at right) in Shamokin, which offers up the best classic hot dogs and hamburgers outside of New York.

After lunch, head over to Heritage Aviation in Selinsgrove for your choice of an air tour of the region or an introductory flight lesson—or both! During your lesson, you’ll experience basic ground school and basic skills at the controls.

After that, we recommend dinner at the River House Brew Pub, which features great Italian food along with award-winning microbrews. Or try Skeeter’s Pit BBQ overlooking the Susquehanna River.

Day Three

The thrill of being up in the sky yesterday is going to be balanced today with the excitement of being underwater. Enjoy a scuba lesson with A Water Odyssey Scuba in Williamsport. Your instructors have been diving and teaching for nearly 40 years. They will teach you proper use of equipment before your 2-hour beginner lesson in local Loyalsock Creek. When friends at home see today’s underwater photos along with yesterday’s aerial shots, they’re going to eat their hearts out!

But wait, there’s more! This afternoon you're on an exhilarating off-road guided adventure at Penn’s Cave and Wildlife Park. During the two-and-a-half-hour adrenaline pumping Cave Rock Mountain Tour, you’ll negotiate manmade obstacles, steep cliffs, muddy ditches and mountain ravines. The tour also travels through portions of the Wildlife Park, which is home to American Bison, Texas Longhorn cattle, Timber wolves, bobcats, Bighorn sheep and mountain lions.

Have your own ATV or OHV? Then you will NOT want to miss spending the afternoon at the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) in Shamokin. The AOAA consists of 6,500 acres of various levels of motorized trails.

Whew! What an afternoon that was! You can follow it up with dinner at Bull Run Tap House or Vic’s Pub. Then hit the sack at Penns Creek Mountain Lodge for one more night.

Day Four

Wow—the time has flown (no pun intended)! We’ll let you choose how you want to spend the last day. Some options include the following:
•    Hiking or mountain biking in R.B. Winter State Park
•    Take a guided fishing trip with Penns Creek Angler or find your own fishing spot.
•    Another round of golf at one of the region’s 6 golf courses
•    Renting bikes at Buffalo Valley Outfitters or Earl’s Bicycle Store and riding the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail
•    Touring the Milton Model Train Museum
•    Head back to the AOAA (because, you know, it was AWESOME!)
•    Or, maybe just chilling with no particular plan!

Enjoy lunch at the Mifflinburg Hotel or the Carriage Corner Restaurant before heading home. We wish you a safe and pleasant journey and look forward to welcoming you back soon!
