Steve Anderson - Homegrown Heroes: Communities in the Civil War

This one-man show brings Pennsylvania's Civil War past to life for audiences old & young. Experience abolitionists, activists, volunteers, doctors, nurses, grieving families and local participants.

The Battle at Chamber's Ridge in Hartleton, PA
June 8: 9 am - 9 pm
June 9: 9 am - 3 pm

The 2013 re-enactment of the Battle of Chamber's Ridge marks the 9th anniversary of this local Civil War event. This year we are comemmorating the 150th anniversary of the The Battle of Gettysburg.

There will be displays of local hometown heroes from New Berlin, Mifflinburg, Lewisburg, and other nearby communities. The weekend's festivities will also include cannon demonstrations by Cooper's Battery B, First Pennsylvania Light Artillery, field medicine displays by the 148th Field Hospital, a period dance on the lawn on Saturday night and a period correct church service held on Sunday by pastor John Lee.

Children's History Camp: Civil War Encampment
9 am - 3:30 pm
Children ages 7-12 are invited to the Slifer House lawn to learn from local re-enactors about military drills, medicine, food, dances, games, and more about the war. Children's History Camp: A Week of Workshops
10 am - noon and 1 - 3 pm, Monday - Friday, June 17-21

Repasz Band Outdoor Performance and Ice Cream Social
7 pm
Now the oldest non-military band in the U.S., the Repasz Band of Williamsport had enlisted in several Pa. Volunteer regiments and the 8th Pa. Calvary, serving until the end of the war. Today the band plays wartime and march  favorites. Concert sponsored by Mifflinburg Bank and Trust and Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts.

15th Annual Iron Heritage Festival in Danville, PA
This year we are commemorating "Our Civil War Years." We are proud to announce the return of the Dodsworth Band who will be joining in the festivities throughout the weekend. Activities during the festival include music, parade artisans, food, lectures and tours. Also don't miss the Civil War encampment, a Civil War washer woman, and the "Confederation of Union Generals" who will hold a question and answer discussion with the public in the first person and in character. Fireworks, a fly-in and a Civil War Church Service are also planned.

Special Showing of Steven Spielberg's Lincoln
2 pm
Join us at the Historic Campus Theatre in downtown Lewisburg, PA for this tribute to the man who many consider the Civil War's greatest hero.

Tickets are $10 per person, and all proceeds will benefit the Fort Project at Fort Augusta in Sunbury PA.

September 7

36th Annual An Evening with Lincoln
8 pm
Renowned historian and reenactor James Getty will portray President Abraham Lincoln accompanied by Civil War era music performed by local professional musicians.  Period costume will be worn by honor guard, musicians and and Getty, who will answer questions from audience after his presentation. Limited seating available. Reservations required.

November 16

Civil War Ball
6:30 - 10 pm
Join us in the Ballroom at the beautiful, historic Lewisburg Hotel to experience the grandeur of an authentic Civil War period ball. A Victorian Dance Ensemble accompanied by a Civil War Band will provide the entertainment -- hot hors d'oeuvres and an assortment of refreshments will be provided.  This event is sponsored by the Slifer House museum and the Heritage Alliance.
Cost is: $30 individual $50 per couple
