The Bloomsburg Children’s Museum, 2 West Seventh Street is pleased to announce its programs for October 2018.

Friday, October 5
First Friday

The museum will be open until 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month! Special activities for the whole family.
5-7 p.m. Hobo Culture of the 1930’s
Explore “hobo codes,” traditional hobo music, and what life was like riding the rails.
Saturday, October 6, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Superhero Saturday

Meet your favorite Superheroes from the Heroes Alliance. Superhero crafts and games too! Wear a costume to get $1 off admission.

Wednesday, October 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Homeschool Hangouts

Every other Wednesday 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. during the school year beginning October 10-December 19, resumes in January. Parent/child activities designed to complement concepts taught in homeschool curriculum, grades K-12. Discounted admission for homeschool families, ($5/person).
Fall topics include: Food Frenzy, Forts and Other Buildings, Circuits, Everything That Goes, and more.

iMake Art & Science Class Series!

This a-la-carte class series offers both art and science projects for children ages 6-12. Wild paint projects, DIY Bird Feeders, and race cars are just some of the fun projects waiting for you to create. Pick which projects you like best or try them all. See museum website or class brochure for full calendar of projects. iMAKE Classes run at 4:30 every Thursday from October 4-December 27 and will continue through the school year. $8/child for one class or $60 for a 10 class punch card. Spaces are limited to 15 students/class. Call the museum to RSVP and save a seat. Walk-ins are first come, first served.

Music Together

Registration required. This internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program is led by certified music teacher, Kerry Kenny. Music Together® stimulates a love for music, movement and learning in children ages newborn to kindergarten and the adults who love them. Wiggling, singing, and laughing with your child is so much fun- it's easy to forget how much learning is taking place! Music CD & Songbook included.

Dino Days

Come meet TANK, a life sized dino, as our dinosaur exhibit comes to life! Join us for some great dino crafts, activities and experiments to learn about these amazing creatures that roamed the earth millions of years ago! Learn how you can get TANK to appear at your next party or event. Included with museum admission.

Tuesday, October 16, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Two Dollar Tuesday

Third Tuesday of the month, $2 admission all day. The Exchange Art Cart will host hands-on art project, 10am-2pm.

Exploring Club

What is an Exploring Club? Clubs are for boys and girls between 10 and 17 years old who are interested in learning about exciting career choices!

Thursday, October 18, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is a free after-school program for 6-12th grade girls. Join our sisterhood of supportive peers and role models using computer science to change the world. Learn the concepts of loops, variables, conditionals, and functions that form the basis for all programming languages. Work in teams to design a computer science impact project that solves real world problems girls care about. Call the museum to register. Registration cost is free, sponsored by the Arconic Foundation and Williams.

Paint Me a Story

Book: The Color Monster, by Anna Llenas; Activity: Giant Water Color Monsters
This Saturday morning story time-art-studio mashup is a whole lot of fun for your little ones ages 3-5. Story time ignites preschoolers’ imaginations for creating hand on art activities, exploring colorful book themes, and characters. Build language skills, color recognition, and small motor skills. Call the museum to RSVP. Free with regular admission. Adult must stay with child during program.

Saturday, October 27, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

The PA WoodMobile is a traveling exhibit exploring the state’s forests and their wonderful wood products. Learn how PA’s forests grow and change and get to know hardwood species and investigate threats to forests and how forests are managed. All ages welcome, included with museum admission.

Fall series runs Sept. 4- Dec. 11, 1-2 p.m. (Every Other Tuesday)
Homeschool PE Class

Certified PE Instructor, Katie Rude, leads students in games and activities that focus on moderate to vigorous physical activity. Students of all ages welcome. Parents are required to stay with children ages 5 and under. Classes are $8/child per session. Call to register, walk-ins welcome on a first come first served basis.

The Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization with a mission to enrich the lives of people in the 10-county region by fostering a lifelong love of learning through interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination in every child and the child in every visitor.
