BloomCON HAK4KIDZ Returns on Saturday, March 24

HAK4KIDZ is the area’s only kid-friendly hacking conference. Hak4Kidz is produced by the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum in conjunction with the BloomCON, an adult hacking conference that takes place on the grounds of Bloomsburg University.

HAK4KIDZ is a free event that takes place on Saturday, March 24 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Benjamin Franklin Hall on the campus of Bloomsburg University. Children aged 8-17 are encouraged to apply to attend the conference which will admit 80 students. Applications can be found at

Ethical hackers, information security professionals, and educators will bring the benefits of white hat hacking to the children and young adults at the conference. The conference features guest speakers, workshops, and STEM work stations. Attendees have a chance to win prizes, expand their knowledge and explore the world of hacks.

Workshops include: Can U Xcape escape room, NFC Treasure Hunt, Intro to python coding, programming with Edison robots, Thrivent Financial Finance Hacks, codes and ciphers, and much more

Dr. Phil Polstra, producer of the parent BloomCON conference describes the youth-based program, “Hak4Kidz is a STEM program for children 8 to 17 with an emphasis on skills pertinent to cyber security careers that are in high demand.”

Dr. Ginny Weibel, Education Coordinator at the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum describes the educational value of the program. “The idea behind the kid-friendly event is not only to learn about cybersecurity, coding, and white hat hacking, but also to spark the minds of children and introduce them to careers in engineering and technology.”
