Surrender! The Sudden Death of Alvira

The Union County Historical Society will host a showing of the documentary film "Surrender! The Sudden Death of Alvira, Pennsylvania" at the Campus Theatre, Market Street, Lewisburg on Sunday, March 31 at 1:00 PM Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased in advance in person or by mail at the UCHS office in the County Courthouse, 103 S. Second Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837; or ORDERED on the UCHS website www.unioncountyhistoricalsociety.org. Please include your mailing address with online orders. MOVIE TICKETS can be purchased in person after March 15 at Union County Library branches in Lewisburg, Mifflinburg and Laurelton, and the Milton Public Library. Advance ticket purchase is suggested.

The critically-acclaimed film "Surrender! The Sudden Death of Alvira," by documentary filmmakers Steve and Martha Huddy, is filled with survivor interviews, photographs, historic WWII film clips and a beautiful narrative of the US government seizure of 8400 acres of land for a massive TNT plant to build munitions for World War II. A workforce of 10,000 men and women completed construction of the TNT factory in just under 11 months at a cost exceeding $50 million.
