2019 Lecture Series - free lectures held at the Milton High School Library

Sunday - January 20 at 2 pm
Pennsylvania: The Political Climate and What Matters to Voters by G. Terry Madonna, Franklin & Marshall College -- Dr. Madonna will examine the state of politics of Tom Wolf, activities of the state legislature and attitude of PA voters on major issues of the day.

Sunday - February 10 at 2 pm
Slavery in PA (And How They Got Away With It) by Bruce Teeple, Historian & Author -- This program shows how the relationship between Europeans and African-Americans both free and enslaved goes back to William Penn's father. It also examines how the perceptions and definitions of freedom and slavery changed throughout 18th and 19th centuries.

Sunday - March 10 at 2 pm
Civil War Barons: Businessmen and the Union Cause by Jeffry Wert, Historian & Pulitizer Prize Nominee -- This lecture focuses on the role of several Northern industrialists and their companies' contributions to the war effort to save the Union. Includes John Deere, Cyrus McCormick, Andrew Carnegie, Philip Armour, Gail Borden and the Studebaker brothers.
