Live Art and Live Music at the Stroll Through the Arts

Friday, November 2, 2018, Downtown Lewisburg

Both the visual and the performing arts take center stage in historic downtown Lewisburg the first Friday in November as the Lewisburg Arts Council sponsors the Nineteenth Annual Stroll Through the Arts on Friday, November 2, all evening! Live visual art is in evidence from 6 to 9 pm when 30 artists display their works in shops, studios, and galleries all along five blocks of downtown Market Street.  The artists range from painters to potters to jewelers to photographers and are all from the central Susquehanna Valley region.

This year's Stroll Through the Arts will again feature our passport program. Anyone who visits and has checked off the required number of businesses in certain blocks of downtown is eligible to enter a drawing for downtown Lewisburg gift certificates. Passports are available at any one of the participating businesses (look for the luminaria!) or the Arts Underground at 310 Market St., the location of the Lewisburg Arts Council’s new office space. The drawing will happen at 9:00pm at the Arts Underground.

Live Music this year will be throughout the evening from 6:00 to 11:00pm! Dance to the Music features four great bands for free:

Brian Crane and Fred Krug, at All-Star Bagels, 300 Market St., from 6:00-8:00pm

Ramblin’ Dan Stevens, at Tastecraft Market, 323 Market St., from 7:00-9:00pm

Lipsmackin’ Blues Band, at the Bull Run Tap House, 605 Market St., from 8:00-10:00pm

Runaway Stroller, at the Towne Tavern, 600 Market St., from 9:00-11:00pm

All four bands are free and open to the public.

And parents, how about making this a Parent Night Out (or really, a Kids’ Night In)? The Lewisburg Children's Museum is partnering with Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority staff to host a special parents' night out during the Stroll Through the Arts. From 4:30-8:30 pm, children will have time in the museum followed by pizza, popcorn, and a movie. The cost is $25 for one child and $10 for each sibling. So parents can go out to eat downtown and then have several hours for music and art on their own. For details and registration: BVRec.org/Parents Night.

More details about the artists who will be displaying and performing will be available on the Lewisburg Arts Council’s website: www.lewisburgartscouncil.com.
