Lewisburg Celebration of the Arts

Festivals & Fairs

April 26, 2019 to May 11, 2019

Downtown Lewisburg

When does it finally feel like spring? When it's time for the 2019 Lewisburg Celebration of the Arts! This year's Celebration runs two weeks from April 26 – May 11, and in honor of our 50th Anniversary, we will be featuring the work of previous years' Featured Artists!

The main event of the Celebration is the Lewisburg Arts Festival on Saturday, April 27, with over 100 juried artists displaying their works throughout downtown Lewisburg. There are two stages of performers, with partial support by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

While you're strolling, don't forget the Indoor Art Exhibit and the Photography Exhibit, or the Featured Artist exhibit at Faustina Gallery. Be sure to stop by the Community Commons, where many of the area’s nonprofits are set up with information and activities (including gym mats to get the wiggles out!). There will be FOUR food areas this year, plus an Artisanal Food area on Market Street at Front Street.

There's much more to the two weeks of the Celebration of the Arts, like the various Exhibits and Events that take place in the area. The Annual Indoor Art Exhibit, a juried show for adult artists at the Packwood House Museum, 15 N. Water St., and the juried Photography Exhibit in the William Himmelreich Library, 18 Market St., both run from Saturday, April 27 through Saturday, May 4. Awards receptions for both shows on the evening of Friday, April 26 are open to the public.

Sunday, April 28 is the Plein Air Event cosponsored by the Merrill W. Linn Conservancy, the Lewisburg Arts Council, and the Artists' Guild. Free workshops over the course of the two weeks will give adults and children a chance to try their hand at a different art form – in areas such as painting, drawing, and photography!

The final event of the Celebration is Lewisburg Live! on Saturday, May 11. Seven bands will perform live music in nine different venues between 6pm and midnight. Music ranges from folk to rock to jazz to blues – something for every taste. And all free!

Important note: parking is tricky, so take the free shuttle bus or use the valet bicycle parking coordinated by Walk It! Bike It! Lewisburg. Buses leave every 10 minutes from the Weis north parking lot off Route 15 just north of Lewisburg, with four stops downtown; if you ride your bicycle, take it to the Mifflinburg Bank parking lot at 5th and Market, and Earl's Bicycles will park it and protect it for you while you walk around the Festival.

The Lewisburg Celebration of the Arts is sponsored by the Lewisburg Arts Council, with financial assistance from members and many local businesses and institutions.
