The Countryside Contra Dancers welcome families, students,new, experienced, all to the last Contra Dance of the season, May 12 from 7:30 PM -10:30PM at the Donald Heiter Community Center, 100N 5th Street, in Lewisburg. Calling by Bob Nicholson, and live music by Total Hip Replacement are sure to please! New England Contra Dance is a traditional dance form rooted in Irish, English, and Scottish jigs, reels and waltzes. Contra dancing is social, easy and energetic, mostly involving a smooth walking step. All dances are taught/called, with the basic figures taught from 7:30-8:00. Newcomers of all ages are always welcome, with or without a partner. Please wear comfortable clothes, and soft soled, non-marking shoes. Admission is $8.00 for Adults; under 18 free. $5.00 for students with current ID. Under 16 must be accompanied by guardian. Come dance for an evening of wonderful music, movement and laughter.
