Packwood House Offers Painting Workshop
May 19, 2012
On Saturday, May 19, Packwood House Museum, located in downtown Lewisburg, will host a workshop for would-be artists of all ages interested in learning how to paint with oils. Margie Nugent, a member of the Susquehanna Art Alliance, will teach the workshop, which runs from 10am-3pm in the museum's Tour Center, located at 15 North Water Street. The cost per student is $50. There will be a lunch break during the workshop, and students are encouraged to bring their own lunches and take advantage of the park adjacent to the museum.
The Rev. Dr. Margie Nugent was born in Ireland. Her dad was a master sergeant in the US Army who served four tours of duty overseas. The family moved often during his military service, allowing Margie to see the world and meet people from many cultures. When not traveling with her dad, Margie stayed with her mom, a native of Savannah, Georgia.
Margie has loved the arts since she was a child, and continues to paint, compose music, and other equally creative endeavors. She and her husband began using horses to help handicapped children learn more than 20 years ago.
Students are asked to bring their own supplies, a list of which will be provided when students sign up for the class. Seating is limited so please contact the museum to reserve a space. The museum's phone is 570-524-0323. Normal business hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.
