Pre-Live! Event - Friday, May 11th:
CHERRY ALLEY CAFÉ – Dawson
7:00 – 9:00 pm
The band “DAWSON” will be performing. Dawson has performed at many local events such as Go Joe in Sunbury, Sunbury River Festival, Northumberland Corn Festival, Selinsgrove’s Kidsgrove Fall Festival, and the Sunbury Halloween Parade. They have also donated their talent to many local benefits such as The Rock the Point in Danville, The Nami Walk at the Marina, and The Relay for Life Fundraiser at Ard’s. Performing at local coffee shops has also become a favorite of the band. The band enjoys playing classic rock, but also writes and performs their own material. Check them out at www.reverbnation.com/dawsonband.
Saturday, May 12th:
PUIRSEIL’S PUB – Ed Scholl and Don Krech
6:00 – 8:00 pm
Ed Scholl and Don Krech play electric guitar duets featuring songs, both popular and obscure, from the 1920’s to the present. This year is of special note– Ed & Don have been playing guitar for a combined total of over 100 years!
CHERRY ALLEY CAFÉ – Lawson & Disorder
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Larry Lawson and Joe DeCristopher will present a stripped-down version of Lawson and Disorder, the moniker under which Larry and Joe are ordinarily joined by bassist Carl Kirby. Their music has been described as “American mongrel music” because they draw inspiration from a multitude of American musical genres, including country, swing, folk, and rock, all simmered to perfection in their unique musical jambalaya. This special Arts Festival performance will showcase Larry’s richly expressive baritone and Joe’s amazingly delicious guitar licks. The set list will feature many Lawson originals slated for the upcoming Lawson and Disorder debut album, along with a tasteful variety of tunes well-known and obscure, all carefully selected for their beauty, depth, and craftsmanship. Great songs, well-sung and well-played! Check ‘em out!
THE NEW TEMPERANCE HOUSE AND
SECOND STREET PUB – Frank Wicher Band
8:30 – 10:30 pm
Described by area music critics “as Roadhouse, Outlaw, Honky-Tonk” music, Frank Wicher likes to tell it as he sees it in his own tunes and sing it as he feels it when doing renditions of those he admires like Waylon, Willie and the Boys. It’s hard to sit still when this group is on stage playing the music you don’t hear on the radio any more! Frank sings lead and plays guitar with his wife Bonnie singing back-up. Dave “Ike” Eisenhower on drums and Buzz “Have Bass Will Travel” Meachum on electric bass round out this local bit of Texas Hill Country in central Pennsylvania. Check them out at www.frankwicher.com.
TOWNE TAVERN – Octavia Blues Band
9:00 pm – 11:00 pm
There’s just something about Octavia! Is it her wicked blues harmonicas or powerful, sultry vocals? Could it ber her amazing interaction with the audience, or her socking’ hot band?
Maybe it’s the whole package? Perhaps a classic case of ‘the sum of the parts is greater than the individual pieces.’ Regardless, the result is the region’s hottest Blues, Sole and R&B musical act. This “Blue Diva” has garnered press such as, “Octavia has been noted as Top of the List of the very few female harmonica players in the blues world.” “She’s one of a kind!”
BRASSERIE LOUIS – Folk Justice Band
9:00 pm – 11:30 pm
Lewisburg’s own, The Folk Justice Band, formed in 2004. They specialize in tight harmonies and fresh arrangements of folk and classic rock gems, with originals, too. Members include Leo Armbruster, guitar and vocals, Glenn Crook, lead guitar and vocals, Brian Gockley, guitar and vocals, Will Rivera, drums/percussion and vocals, and Geoff Schneider, bass guitar. They regularly play area clubs, restaurants and coffeehouses, as well as weddings, private parties, and reunions. Be prepared to dance! Please visit their website at www.folkjusticeband.com.
BULL RUN INN – Blind Chitlin Kahunas
10:00 – 12 Midnight
