Member Services Director - Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Member Services Director is the official liaison between the Bureau and its members and manages member-related events, communications, promotions and activities.  The director identifies and recruits new members and develops and sustains current member communications, programs and benefits.  Assists the Executive Director as needed.


KEY RESULT AREAS

Establishes member development by contacting potential members using all forms of communication. Understands that personal phone calls may be the most effective communication method in recruiting and nurturing new and current members.  Oversees member and SRVVB brochure distribution at designated locations throughout the tri-county region.  Represents the SRVVB at speaking engagements, university events and trade fairs.  Coordinates special events such as Member Mornings, the Annual Member Dinner and Backyard Tourist Week, familiarization trips, Leadership Susquehanna Valley Tourism Program Day, and acts as the liaison to niche member groups/committees such as SRVVB Lodging Partners.

Enters new member information into SRVVB database and updates existing member information to be used by SRVVB for web site, member dues invoicing, publications and mailings. 

Works with SRVVB Bookkeeper to coordinate member invoices and member renewals.  Contacts members via phone and email to secure member dues payments in a timely manner.

Works with Visitor Center Manager, SRVVB Bookkeeper, Marketing Director and 3rd-party service provider [for Annual Guide] to distribute and secure necessary information for a cost-effective, inclusive and detailed Annual Planning Guide to the Susquehanna River Valley.

Works with the Marketing Director to update member information in niche brochures in an efficient manner.

Stimulates participation of members in projects and events on a regular basis through telephone, email, mail, fax, personal visits and niche member meetings.                                   

Oversees part-time brochure fulfillment distribution clerk. 

Responsible for their own daily administrative tasks and paperwork.

Assists front desk personnel on as-needed basis.

Industry knowledge – stays informed on the tourism industry and SRVVB activities to engage members and represent the SRVVB.
